The British government is ready to advance with using the total value of seized Russian assets to bolster Ukraine's military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to come to the table.

They clarified that the decision would be implemented in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom penalties have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russian assets since Moscow began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, funds provided to Ukraine using Russian holdings had exclusively been sourced from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their desire to push forward toward utilizing the total worth of the frozen Russia's state assets to end the war.

He noted that more measures over the next period would apply more pressure on Russia.

This announcement comes after European officials met in Copenhagen previously to consider employing frozen Russia's holdings for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, President Donald Trump called on international partners to take or otherwise use immobilized Russia's funds, as reported by media sources.

The value of frozen Russian holdings in the EU is estimated to be almost €211bn.

The Russian government launched widespread aerial attacks across Ukraine on Friday, causing electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were fatally injured and at least 20 people were wounded in the attack, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a update on an online platform following the attack, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not mere statements but concrete steps - from the United States, the European Union, and the seven nations - in providing defense mechanisms and implementing restrictions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky stated to media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the Purl scheme, under which alliance members purchase arms from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.
