Government Seeks Help from High Court Following Failed Bid to Block Snap Aid Directive
This past Friday, just moments after a national appellate court ruled that the White House needs to completely finance nutritional assistance payments, the administration turned to the supreme court in a new effort to prevent the order.
A short time later, the top US court released an urgent ruling provisionally halting full nutrition assistance payments, which close to 42 hundred thousand people rely on to put food on the table.
“Our attorneys persist in battling, around the clock, to support and promote the president's priorities,” the top legal officer stated on social media shortly after 9:30pm local time.
Government representatives had requested the US appeals court to stop a judge's order that it provide this month's entire nutritional assistance during a government funding lapse, and had their request rejected that afternoon.

The high court’s decision followed the government requested a national appeals court last Friday to halt a judge’s order mandating they distribute the upcoming complete nutritional benefits during a government funding lapse.
Subsequent to that appeal to block got rejected, the government appealed to the supreme court in a further bid to prevent the directive to completely finance nutrition assistance payments.
