Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
