After enduring heavy downpours that resulted in floodwaters across areas in the city, the City of Angels is now confronting unseasonably warm conditions for this time of year.
Record-Setting Temperatures
During the day Friday, the mercury climbed to ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in the city center, as reported by meteorologists. This exceeds the prior high for February 27th, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was recorded in the previous year.
"Very warm conditions" were labeled on NWS maps for the region.
Public Health Advisories
Authorities issued a warning that Friday's heat posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their guidance included:
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
- Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Not leaving children or pets unattended in a hot car.

Other locales that reached ninety degrees featured Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Meanwhile, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were expected to reach the upper eighties.
In the coming days, downtown Los Angeles can anticipate weather in the eighties, with cooler weather likely for the week ahead.
