New Details Emerge About the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of renowned director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account referencing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source also disputed several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
The source also disputed published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to reports of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
