President Trump Invites Families of Attacked National Guard Members to the White House
President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the presidential home.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have taken place in their memory.
White House Invitation
The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”
Public Reaction
Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to help others.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Government Revisions
Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident caused the administration to suspend refugee claims and halt issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader the governor mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with honor, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
