Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.

American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved programs like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his loved ones stated in a statement.

They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
