Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning run was ended by the Black Cats before the international break, however will the Premier League leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.
For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Life
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.
The Hammers' only away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.
So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under their manager and are in good form with three in their past four games.
My son told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.
They have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have got lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
Their display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of October.
But I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
