The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events in 2025 as a result of a health issue she has been battling in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but opted to return home to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

These plans are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering again next season.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the final set against Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved twenty-eight matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions late this year.

She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
