The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All participated in the benefit event, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The single showcases a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the initiative have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a few million won't make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
