Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior representative commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
